Meet Verna Seal

My name is Verna Seal, and I’m running to rejoin the Tukwila City Council because I care deeply about this community and believe in the power of experienced, collaborative leadership.

For nearly 30 years, I’ve called Tukwila home. I served on the Tukwila City Council for 16 years, from 2006 to 2021, where I worked hard to make our city more inclusive, equitable, and responsive to the needs of our residents. I know how city government works, and I’m ready to get to work on day one.

My commitment to Tukwila goes far beyond elected office. I’ve volunteered extensively throughout the city, including as a founding board member of the Tukwila Children’s Foundation, a member of the Tukwila Equity and Diversity Commission, and a leader in the Girl Scouts. I’ve served on the Tukwila Library Advisory Board, Tukwila Arts Commission, and the King County Library System Board of Trustees. My goal in all of this work has been to make Tukwila a better place for all of us.

Professionally, I’ve worked for over 30 years as an immigration paralegal, helping people navigate complex systems and fight for better futures. That experience has shaped my approach to public service—focused on listening, problem-solving, and making sure every voice is heard. I bring those same values to local government.

Looking ahead, I believe Tukwila needs steady, experienced leadership to address our most pressing issues—like affordable housing, sustainable budgeting, public safety, and equitable economic development. As a former councilmember, I understand the challenges, but I also see the possibilities. I know how to build consensus, ask tough questions, and make smart, community-first decisions.

I also understand that we can’t solve every problem alone. Tukwila’s future depends on strong partnerships—with regional agencies, neighboring cities, and our own residents. I’ve done that work before, and I’m ready to do it again.

This campaign is about service—not politics. I’m running because I care about this city, and I want to give back. I would be honored to earn your support and your vote.

Let’s keep building a Tukwila that works for everyone.
